Groovy Christmas

Robert and I were so excited to do this photo shoot. I had received my mom's 1970's sunglasses a few years ago and couldn't wait to have the perfect shot to rock them in. We purchased Robert's awesome sweater at a local second hand store for a dollar...score. All we needed was a bear rug. Well it just so happened that our friends had once been the lucky winners of a bear rug from a White Elephant Christmas Exchange. We took this picture Christmas eve 2011 at about the same time Santa Clause was to arrive to put Christmas gifts under the tree. It did cross our minds to play a joke on my girls...yeppers put the bear outside their door. But I didn't want to pay for years of therapy so my Jiminy Cricket conscious kicked in..as funny as we all know it would have been.

Long Distance LOVE

A Second Chance

Once upon a time, a boy fell in love with a girl and for 26 years he didn't stop dreaming of being with her. You see this girl didn't realize that this boy was just what she wanted in life. She was a dreamer this girl, she was always making plans setting goals and succeeding at them. He remembers the day she told him that someday she will marry a guy from Europe. This crushed the boy because he knew that one day she would...and she did. The boy and the girl have been best friends since grade school, there wasn't a week that went by that they didn't talk to each other. They were best friends. It was the summer of 2011 and the girl was having issues in her marriage to the guy from Europe. Her best friend was there for her all through her divorce, lending an ear, a shoulder to cry on, and having the great ability to make her laugh during this hard time in life.

It was just one of our ordinary friend coffee visits. The smell of fresh brewed coffee filled the air, the low key elevator music relaxing the guests. The odd person with their cappuccino and reading the headlines of todays news. She looked across at her best friend and smiled, he smiled back because he knew. Its funny how sometimes what we think we want in life isn't at all what we need in life. This is a new chapter in my life with my best friend who I didn't notice was next to me for over 20 years. I am happy to say I am in love with my best friend.

Las Vegas Wedding=Dream Come True

I have been absolutely stoked to post these images from the Las Vegas wedding of this amazing couple. I haven't been able to stop talking about this wedding since they booked me way back in February for the big day October 9th. I will never be able to forget this because I have always dreamed as a photographer to one day do a Destination Wedding. So yes I believe dreams do come true. It was an adventure I will never forget either being held at Customs for 5 hours all because of a minor misunderstanding that turned into a major delay in arriving to the wedding but that's an entirely different story. I wish nothing but the best of luck to this all around great couple.

My model and I met on August 29th to do a great session in the dark. At the exact time we met, mother nature decided to drop in and say hello with a massive rain storm. I tried shooting in the rain, my camera was not a fan. So I sat in my hatch back as the river was pouring down the hatchhood into my car. I then said never mind to this scene. I will try to rock my vision in the spring with "The Little Red" session. I had such a blast shooting in the rain and experimenting with lights. Leah you were so beyond amazing to work with. Thank you tonnes I really hope you can do it again in the Spring

Shooting around whitecourt as a photographer sometimes you get the perfect spot like this one. I duct tape old vinyl to the brick wall and VOILA a great backdrop for the shoot of McLean gang. I got to capture Lyndee and Travis' wedding a while back and as many of you know with any wedding bookings you get a free ROCK THE DRESS session. I've typed and deleted 4 times trying to say this. I remember April 1st is when my ex moved out-no joke either. I remember the summer of 2010 when I realized I wasn't happy in my marriage and stated in October 2010 we needed counselling. I remember November 21st when he said he wanted a divorce. I remember feeling rejected but knowing it was the best thing for me. I remember May 30 when I find out my partner in crime of 11 years is now dating someone new. I remember June 1st when I knew that rejection is still hard to take even if its the best thing for someone (me).

We have all seen the disaster that has happened in Slave Lake, we hopefully have all done our share of helping in every way we can. We never think of a disaster to hit so close to home let alone your own home. I seen a posting on slavelakerelief about the Grad students of 2011 looking for donations of dresses, tuxes to have the ability to celebrate their well deserved accomplishments. Which I then contacted them volunteering/donating my photography services for them to capture their big day. I have just recently started working at the school-if you have been reading my post you know the reason. Working with students has reminded me-school is their world-this has been their growing pains of learning from one mistake to another without ever losing one loss of enthusiasm. To celebrate the beauty of their dreams and now go make their dreams a reality. I am hoping that I can get other photographers on board to go capture celebrations of their past, present and future.

Very nervous and excited to do my LIFE to do list and scratch do stand up:) However this dream has always been a dream of mine and my best friend Robert who is the Ultimately funny person in my life. He is the funniest guy -every time I go to stand up I'm always thinking, "Robert is way funnier than that guy" Many of the "funny" things I say are 40% he's material I'm borrowing. I'm on the fence-we shall see. On another note I started my guitar lessons on Sunday and I'm rocking the E notes-whoot whoot I know right total rock star (this time next year I hope to be cool girl around the campfire). My kids and I will be the next Partridge Family-rocker mom, charlie on piano and Jordis giving more cow bell and screaming on the top of your lungs-you know you wanna download it to your ipod.

So during Easter break I wanted to capture my best friend Trevor with a vision of vintage. There is a local bar that has been around since the town opened (I think). Its soo old it was the perfect setting for my backdrop. During one night we went to visit our friend Dana who was housesitting for her aunty where I noticed...THE PERFECT SUITCASE. Dana allowed me to borrow the suitcase for the shoot. I am soo happy with the processed images I did of Trevor.

Coffee Shop and Sunshine

So my best friend Robert told me to text him 4 words-any words. So I choose Funny, Genuine, Sweet and Real. This is the poem he wrote within a 5 minute time frame. He has amazing talent:)

Its funny how one can become crisis
Glancing over the Newspaper of my life
A pale and faded yellowish volume
Corners dog eared
Columns clipped, coupons long expired
One good headline for 35 bad
Will the transferred ink ever wash off
These weathered hands
Our blue eyes meet in one genuine stare
My Deep breath is sweet with her passion
I wish my lungs could hold her in longer
Her glasses reflect everyone she doesn't want
Her heart absorbs the others

A Change Will Do You Good

After being out of high school for 16 years I am returning, this time being a Teacher's Assistant. I am all emotions right now excited, nervous, scared, determined, fortunate, all of them for my transition. I will continue to do what I love (photography duh) and work full time in the school system. As with many changes in my personal life (divorce) I am finding myself needing a position that will allow me to have benefits. I truly believe things happen for a reason and every grey cloud brings a rainbow. I am looking forward to my new CHANGE that will do me GOOD.

I got the wonderful opportunity to capture Neil and Wesleigh's couples portraits. I have been blessed to capture Neil's sisters wedding and maternity/baby session so it was great to also capture his love session. These to are so cute together. Today Jordis and I went with my mom to go visit my Grandpa Pepper in the hospital-which happens to be the same hospital that Jordis was born in 4 years ago. I asked Jordis if she would like to go see the room she was born in-we went and the nurse showed her everything they used on her when she took her first breath. Jordis said-I want to be born again...I said maybe in years to come you can be a born again...christian.lol

This family was so welcoming to me. Donna Gerber (bride's mom) will forever have a soft spot in my heart after her write up of the local vendors they utilized for their daughters wedding. It brought tears to my eyes. Ryan and Ceanna are soo in love its beautiful. We did have a challenge of the day. The forest fires gave me a headache on many of the shots. Sometimes it was soo smokey that the camera couldn't even find the subjects. Either way we rocked through it and I feel the family was very pleased with the photos. I only dream of my daughters being as close as this family is. It a rare love.

Watson Wedding

If one word could describe this wedding it would be FUN. Wow the entire party including parents were just awesome to capture. Even at one point some party members mooning the town of Whitecourt would lead to the cops stopping the party bus. There was never a dull moment with this wedding. Jody Rock The Dress

Wow, I loved the location I got to use with Jody's Rock the Dress. Her husband's father has the perfect farm full of goodies. Its a photographers dream come true. Every corner had great props to utilize. She rocked it just like the title says. My favourite would probably be the one I shot threw the burning garbage or the colors that popped against the barn. Okay who am I kidding I am proud of all of them. Her wedding photos will be blogged soon.

Ribbon and Candy

Amanda hired me for boudoir. I got inspired from a Vogue magazine and asked Amanda to model for me. Ribbon and Candy and a cute face = a portrait I love. We did her session in my home Studio in Whitecourt, Alberta. I can't wait to do more candy and ribbon portraits.

My Kids just freaked out cause their Tim Horton's Iced Caps are melting...I'm like calm down Al Gore...lol I really shouldn't have got them a small to share cause OMG they are crazy wired. Time to let them hang with the grandparents.

Ashely Watson Rock The Dress

I first got the wonderful privilege of capturing Ashely and Blaine's wedding. Of course with all wedding bookings it includes free ROCK THE DRESS so Ashely was as excited as I was to capture her session. I pretty much loved all the portraits and really who wouldn't. She is so stunning and photogenic and her laugh would brighten anyones day.she literally ROCKED THE DRESS.

Boudoir Props

Just got back from Edmonton having a blast shopping today for boudoir props. I am so excited to be doing two sessions this weekend in Whitecourt, Alberta photographing two beautiful women boudoir form. The only thing that sucks doing boudoir is that I can't showcase the amazing clients for boudoir because it is a smaller town so privacy issues which is totally understandable. Boudoir photography is one of my favourite things to shoot. After a month without my computer screen working and wedding deadlines being pushed to the ultimate limits I can almost catch up on sleep, other clients work, chilling with my husband and kids...and friends..don't give up on me, being able to do some marketing, and having time to revamp my studio office.

I had the most awesome Sunday photoshoots...I had a rock the dress with the amazing Ashley Watson. Images to be posted soon. Then I got to shoot the cute Maren and Vance who will be getting married July 2011.
